Dictate panel
Section titled “Dictate panel”Starting a dictation
Section titled “Starting a dictation”- Click Dictate (round button, or shortcut ⌘D / Ctrl+D)
- Speak naturally — the button pulses red while recording
- Click again to stop
- The transcription appears in the text area — review and correct it before sending
- Click Send to Editor → to transfer the transcription
Spoken punctuation
Section titled “Spoken punctuation”Scribe Local recognises spoken punctuation commands:

Audio file import
Section titled “Audio file import”Click Import audio file to transcribe a recording (dictaphone, voice memo).
Supported formats: WAV, MP3, M4A, OGG, FLAC, AIFF
Reviewing the transcription
Section titled “Reviewing the transcription”The transcription is fully editable in the text area before being sent to the editor.
Transcription quality
Section titled “Transcription quality”Quality depends on the Whisper model automatically selected based on your RAM:

Automatic language detection is enabled — Scribe Local transcribes any language Whisper supports (French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, and more). French legal post-processing (punctuation normalisation, smart quotes) is applied automatically when the detected language is French.
